meet Dr. David Granoff

clinical Psychologist &

neuroptimal® neurofeedback specialist

I have been a clinical psychologist in private practice since 1997. I received my BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan in 1984. I completed my doctorate in 1994 at Yeshiva University in New York City. I spent the time between graduating college and entering graduate school attending Duke School of Law and working in the restaurant business as both a bartender and waiter. This turned out to be great training for my chosen profession.

I was originally trained as a psychodynamic psychotherapist and also did copious amounts of post-doctoral training in Gestalt and Cognitive-Behavioral Psychology. My clinical practice is varied as I work with children and adolescents as well as adults. I see my clients in individual, family and couples sessions.

I have taught at both Touro College in New York City as well as Cleveland State University. I served as the psychologist at Villa-Angela St. Joseph High School for three years and I am currently a consulting psychologist at University School in Hunting Valley. I am married with three school-aged children. In addition to my practice and family, I fill my life with working out, reading and attending as many Cavs and Indians games as I can.

In 2002, I was searching for an alternative treatment for boys with diagnoses of ADHD and Bipolar Disorder. The typical treatment of medication and talk therapy had limited usefulness and significant side effects. I wanted a treatment that would be non-pharmacological and still impact symptoms such as impulsivity, low-frustration tolerance, poor judgement and moodiness. These youngsters also often had volatile relationships at home.

My research led me to NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback, a non-invasive brain training system developed by the Zengar Institute in Canada. The results I began to see in my clients were immediately noticeable. THe results of brain training were often significant and sometimes profound.  As a result of this experience, I expanded my use of NeurOptimal® neurofeedback to other patients with similar success.  Since those early years,  I have become a Certified Master Trainer in NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback and have presented at The Zengar Institute’s International Conference on Research and Development in NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback.

While the science behind this incredible technology fascinates me, it is the results I have seen that have made me a passionate advocate of this brain training system. My team and I have been honored to help many clients over the years in the Greater Cleveland area and look forward to meeting with you to discuss how it might help you.
